Nantwich Jazz @ The Crown


Our fantastic lineup for the 2019 Jazz Blues & Music Festival.  With live bands on from Thursday evening right through to Easter Monday we have a music crossing the genres and something for everyone.  From cool smooth Latin Jazz through Retro Swing, quirky Pop covers and rootsy Blues to full on thumping Rock.  Admission ALL weekend by Festival Wristband.  Excellent value and fun for all !!!!  We also have a special gig in The Ballroom on Friday evening with Nantwich’s own International Piano Man  Tom Seals  playing a one off gig with The Tom Seals Band.  Click Here for more info.


Thursday 18th April

9PM-11PM – THE LUNDIE BROTHERS Brothers Nick and Nathan Lundie play an eclectic mix of 80’s, 90’s and 00’s classics in their unique acoustic way. These guys guarantee to play your favourites!

Friday 19th April

 4PM-6PM – ALMAZ who write & perform Jazz, Blues & Swing from 1920’s to modern day. Barny has a history of playing blues, Joanne’s history is in fronting various pop and rock bands.

6PM-8PM – THE PLUCKERS Formed in 2007, based in Crewe and Stoke. They have over 100 songs to choose from when they play covers and original songs, so there’s always variation. Lots of covers in their own style.

9PM-11PM – STONE COLD SOBER-ISH originate from Stone in Staffs. Steve is Lead Singer. Chris plays Bass Guitar, Fiddle and any other instrument.. Rich on Percussion, Bum Drum (more technically known as Cajon) and backing vocals.

Saturday 20th April

3PM-5PM – ANNIE SINGS ELLA Annie Long, has performed at Nantwich many times in the past to much acclaim! Annie will be featuring a varied collection of iconic songs by Ella Fitzgerald. Not to be missed!

5PM-7PM – RAY BUTCHER Appearing with his band ‘Ray is a ‘straight-ahead’ jazz trumpeter who has released two studio albums of original material. He currently works with Manchester ‘De-Tronic’ featuring John Fitz, Lisa Millet and ‘Sweet Female Attitude’s’ Leanne Brown.

7PM-11PM – LUCY LOCKWOOD & FRIENDS Looking for some old style classic Jazz? Lucy Lockwood is bringing along some friends for a vintage jazz fuelled night to remember.

Sunday 21st April

1PM-3PM – KEVIN HASSETT’S REDUX Kevin Hassett’s Redux is a quartet with a growing reputation for providing innovative, accessible jazz-based entertainment for North West audiences.

4PM-6PM – CHARMAINE BAINES AND THE AFROTATION A welcome to The Crown for Charmaine Baines who will be performing with Afrotation presenting upbeat Soul Nu- Jazz and reggae.

7PM-11PM – BD LENZ Featuring the amazing Kim Cypher on sax. Mix together the styles of Pat Metheny, Mike Stern, and Stevie Ray Vaughn and you have the recipe for contempo- jazz guitarist B.D. Lenz. Expect a show of supreme quality.

Monday 22nd April

2PM-4PM – STEVE OAKES QUARTET featuring Steve Oakes on guitar, Ed Kainyek on alto and soprano saxes, John Sandham on bass, and Tim Franks on drums. Performing a mixture of standards, original compositions and interpretations of pieces.

4PM-6PM – THE TERRY JAMES QUARTET specialise in Smooth Jazz, Latin and Swing music, performing a unique blend of original compositions and sophisticated arrangements of classic music from a golden era.

6PM-8PM – RICKETY WIRELESS Gaining accolades such as ‘a real celebration of great music’ and ‘a great set’. Expect everything from Aztec Camera to Ziggy Stardust, Radiohead to Ray Charles and many more.

Saturday 20th April

3PM-7PM  BILL DAYSON AND FRIENDS An afternoon of Blues hosted by the Bill Dayson Band and featuring Barrelhouse Jukes and surprise guests.

7PM-9PM – GAMBLER Rock and Blues? Oh yes, Gambler will be rocking up the Ballroom with their usual style and panache, firm Festival favourites and guaranteed to be a great night!

2PM-11PM – BLOZONE Formed in 1996 these “Local Heroes” have been entertaining audiences with their mixed flavour of Soul, Motown, STAX and popular songs across the UK.

Sunday 21st April

1PM-8PM – THE CRYBABY SESSIONS a full afternoon of fantastic Blues featuring sets from 3 Kings Malpractice and hosted by Cry Baby & the Hoochie Coochie Boys.

9PM-11PM – BRASS MONKEES An exciting local Cheshire based 9-piece band. Brass Monkees are a lively bunch bringing an action-packed fun-filled combination of Soul, R&B, Funk and Motown. Its party time in the ballroom.

Monday 22nd April

2PM-6PM – THE NICK STEED BAND Nick Steed and guests present a fine mix of music in The Crown Ballroom.
